Mark Seltzer Featured in The Legal Intelligencer

Mark F. Seltzer was featured in The Legal Intelligencer on August 4, 2017, highlighting his recent presentations at the 48th American Society of Addiction Medicine conference and the Federation of State Physician Health Programs ­conference.

At The 48th ASAM Annual Conference, Mr. Seltzer presented during The ASAM Pain & Addiction Common Threads Course XVIII. His course “A Legal Perspective” discussed legal issues that may impact healthcare professionals treating patients with addiction and mental health impairments, and legal issues healthcare professionals may face themselves when dealing with similar impairments.

At the 2017 FSPHP Annual Education Conference, Mr. Seltzer presented “Restoring Physician Wellness from Burnout and Mental Illness: Utilizing Disability Insurance.” Here Mr. Seltzer discussed how burnout, mental illness, and addiction are impacting physicians and how they can use their disability insurance as one of the tools in their treatment plan.

Mr. Seltzer also recently spoke at the IDAA Annual Meeting 2017. Mr. Seltzer’s presentation “License to Kill: The Danger of Practicing While Impaired” discussed the issues healthcare professionals face when practicing impaired. The course discussed ways a healthcare professional can protect themselves and their patients using their disability insurance as one of the many tools they have to step away from work, focus on recovery, and return to work when ready.
